WE Rock Summit: August 5 through 8 Thursday, August 06, 2009
This week, Chattanooga plays host to the WE Rock Summit, a ground-breaking tour and conference that aims to develop standards for web education, world-wide. By advocating accessibility and usability, the members of the Open Web Education Alliance (OWEA) are bringing the issue of web education to the forefront. From the people behind the WE Rock Summit:
“OWEA members are devoted to the cause of improving web education because there is a great need for change in how the Web is being taught. Many universities and schools do not teach web standards and best practices. As a result, students are woefully unprepared to meet industry demands upon graduation which in turn puts an unnecessary burden on employers who are then required to put extensive training into the graduates to bring them up to speed. The goal of OWEA is to bring together individuals, companies, and organizations with strong interests in the Web and web education. It’s time to help the next generation of web professionals’ rock!”
