City Share, February 3: Open Source Education
“Where everyone can teach or take classes, and all classes are free.”
That’s the Experimental College motto, and it truly is as simple as it sounds. The school is made up of four collaborating groups across the Minneapolis-St. Paul area that share a common vision: To offer free and open classes and build a community around education for social change.
The classes that EXCO offers focus on a variety of topics ranging from banjo to bike maintenance to social justice advocacy. The registration process to become a facilitator is easy and readily available so that anyone can start their own class.
Next Wednesday, February 3 from 12-1 pm at CreateHere, EXCO’s co-founder and volunteer organizer David Boehnke will share with us the thought behind creating such an open-source learning platform—and how it has not only sustained itself over the past four years, but grown new chapters across the Twin Cities.
Lunch will be provided by local catering company On The List. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Blair Waddell at blair [at] createhere.org or 423.648.2195.
