John Merrow: Public Education in the Midst of a Recession Sunday, March 01, 2009
Join the Benwood Foundation, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, the Ochs Center for Metropolitan Studies, and CreateHere for a lecture by John Merrow, education correspondent for the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. Merrow will speak at 7 p.m. this Tuesday, March 3, 2009 in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall, located inside the Fine Arts Center on the UTC campus.
A life-long educator, Merrow has taught at the junior high, high school, college, and graduate level. He is founder and president of Learning Matters, a non-profit, award-winning production company focused on producing outstanding reporting about American education.
Merrow’s lecture on Tuesday will focus on the recession, and what needs to happen in public education if schools are to stay afloat.
